Raw, unobstructed views in a sunny, on-slope location. Rental and cabin services available.
Eight stars. Eight chalet apartments.
Thoughtfully designed homes with a true cabin feel. Literally right next to the slope and centrally located in Hovdestaul, Gausta. A place where dreams become reality and memories are made.
Løkjestaul. The Sun Plateau.
An extraordinary place.
The Sun Plateau
The Sun Plateau. Project Stella is being built in Løkjestaul. The site sits on a rare plateau in an otherwise steadily sloping mountainside. This plateau catches the sun early in the year when the southern ridge leaves other areas in shade. Here, the sun does its work almost all year. No wonder we call it the Sun Plateau.
The Slope
The Sun Plateau and Project Stella sit in the very heart of the ski area. The piste literally passes right behind the houses. Pure, effortless Ski In & Out. From your home you walk through the ski locker straight onto the slope — as simple and comfortable as it gets. Prefer cross-country? Walk 50 metres further and you are right at freshly groomed trails.
Gaustatoppen
The view from the apartments is truly exceptional. Whether you sit by the fireplace or enjoy an after-ski on the balcony, perhaps Norway’s most majestic peak fills your field of view. It never gets old. Turn your gaze north and you see the gateway to the magnificent Hardangervidda plateau.
The Simplicity
Park your car right by the house. Need to charge it? The charger hangs on the wall next to your spot. Skis and sleds go in your own spacious ski locker just five metres from the slope. Beyond the eight dedicated parking spaces per apartment, there are six guest spots on the property — so when friends join you at your star, there is room for everyone.
The west wind
The sunshine, the ski-in location and the view are not the only perks. When it blows on the peaks and slopes around Løkjestaul, it remains calm on the Sun Plateau. For that, we can thank Løkjestaulnuten — our own small mountain to the west. The west wind sweeps over it and leaves the plateau untouched.
Løkjestaul
Løkjestaul carries old traditions. The element staul in the name is derived from støl — the place where grazing animals once rested and were milked. When the current cabin was completed in 1945, Håvard Hoel — who still lives at Løkjestaul much of the year — was just born. To this day, Håvard still skis down Gaustatoppen whenever he can. He is a true role model for mountain living.
The Apartments
An apartment in Project Stella is not just any apartment. It is a chalet. It is a star. A star for you. A marvel of deliberate solutions and a brilliantly efficient layout. Every apartment is 70 m² with three bedrooms, eight beds, two bathrooms, a fireplace and a sauna. You also get a spacious fully equipped kitchen and room for a sofa and TV in the great room.
The four top-floor units also have a furnished loft of 25 m² with three rooms — plenty of space for a sofa, TV and two additional double beds. Twelve beds when you need them. That is truly unique for a 70 m² apartment.
We dare say you will not find another apartment this space-efficient anywhere on Gausta.
Design and colour palette
The houses carry a calm expression with modern lines and a clear anchoring in traditional architecture and classic colours. The facade is a beautiful Dovre-brown which, paired with black windows and traditional Røros-red doors, creates a warm and timeless composition. Indoors, the brushed wall panelling is oiled in a slightly lighter brown than the exterior. In the kitchen and great room you find a beautiful white-stained oak parquet, while the hallway is finished in dark grey tiles. The kitchen carries a harmonious brown tone and the bathrooms are tiled in a soft bone-white. All of these subtle colours are found in the nature around you. Stella blends into the mountain like a new star in the sky.
Pure comfort
Store your skis just five metres from the slope in your private ski locker. Park directly outside your apartment. Naturally, every unit is prepared for EV charging. Six guest parking spaces are also available on site. Inside, you will never freeze — and if you still feel a chill, light the fireplace and settle in by the crackling flames. Sitting there, gazing toward Gaustatoppen, is pure bliss — it leaves no one untouched.

Rental management & cabin service
To make ownership easier, we also offer rental management and cabin service through our own operating company. You decide if you want to rent out your home, how much, and when. The only requirement is alignment with our rental philosophy.
Rental assistance is an optional service. You are equally free to manage rentals yourself or with another operator.

The Project
Groundwork began in summer 2025 and construction of the houses commenced on October 7th, 2025. Total construction time is 12 months and move-in is scheduled for autumn 2026 — well ahead of the 2026/2027 winter season.

The project is delivered in collaboration with Tinde Hytter AS — one of Norway’s largest and most accomplished companies in its field — and Brødrene Fossheim Transport AS — a local contractor with long experience in groundwork and stone and concrete construction.
